17 May 2009: 城ヶ崎海岸 Jyogasaki Kaigan Along the rugged eastern coast of the Izu Penninsula south of Ito, runs a hiking course called the "nature research path". 自然研究通路. It starts in the little seaside village of 八幡野 and runs all the way to Futo 富戸. It is mostly a pretty easy hike, sometimes deep in the forest, sometimes bringing you out onto a jagged point where an outflow of lava spilled into the sea. I have hiked this route about 10 times a year for the last several years and it is always different, changing with the weather and the season.
